    Maxi Ultra Slide Sheet

The ULTRA range of slide sheets allows three basic patient handling tasks without the need to lift and without the risk of sheering to the patient's skin. Slide Sheets can also be used for a variety of repositioning tasks. The multidirectional glide of the fabric allows patients to be moved in any direction on the bed and reduces shearing to the patient’s body.

Examples of how a slide sheet is used:

    I) Turning a patient: For x-ray, surgical procedures, recovery, pressure care, change of dressing, or cleaning.

II) Sitting a patient up in bed: for feeding or relief of chest pain etc.

III) Moving a patient on or off a bed, trolley, or examination couch without painful sheering to the buttocks.

    Instructions For Use:

    1) Patient turning:

Roll the patient onto the LOCOMOTOR SLIDE SHEET ensuring that the hip and shoulder are over the slide sheet. To turn the patient, take hold of the top layer of the slide sheet close to the patient’s hip and shoulder and pull gently outwards and upwards. The patient will turn onto his/her side. Alternatively, slide the patient across the bed first and then roll the patient back into the middle of the bed. To remove the sheet, take hold of the bottom layer of the sheet and gently slide it out from beneath the patient.

    2) Moving a patient up the bed:

Roll the patient onto the LOCOMOTOR SLIDE SHEET. If the patient can maintain a sitting position then the slide sheet should be placed under the hip and heel (if required). If the patient cannot sit then the sheet should be positioned under the shoulder and hip. Then using an approved manual handling technique, slide the patient up the bed.

    IMPORTANT:

All patient moving and handling tasks should be carried out in accordance with approved patient handling techniques and after a full assessment of the patient, the task, and the environment in which the operation is to take place.
